Decorative Painting Classes for the Summer

We’re planning lots of fun painting this summer at Artful Endeavors. Please notice our Friday classes and June Girl’s Night Out. I hope you can join us!

Please register ahead of time to secure a seat.

Summer is approaching fast and we’re ready for summer painting with special classes and a varied schedule. We’ve found lots of great new projects to create. In consideration for gas prices we have made it possible to paint a little longer some days or paint morning and afternoon rather than drive several days.

On June 6, 6p – 9:30p, we’ll have a special

Girl’s Night Out!

We’ll order dinner and have a great time creating. Be sure to check out the butterfly card! A little painting and a little paper and …..

Be sure to note our weeks off from classes:

Liz is at the SDP convention May 25 – 30.

Ros Stallcup seminar July 21 – 27.

No classes August 2 – 12.

Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild

This past Sunday the Carolina MMAG met at Artful Endeavors for our May play date where Liz taught a batik art card project.

Batik on rice paper was new to most of the artistic members of the guild and the results were beautiful as you can see. It's so much fun to see what different creations come from the same basic idea and technique.

The Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild is a diverse group of Carolina artists who welcome creative individuals from around the area to discuss artistic endeavors, exchange ideas, post calls for shows and events, chat about unique supplies, and above all: promote mixed media in art!

Painting with Ronnie Bringle

Our seminar with Ronnie Bringle was a big success. Intensive painting, 8 hr days of painting, so nice to just concentrate on work on one painting.
The portraits turned out exciting and we learned so much. Ronnie is great about showing you the details that create a true likeness. We worked with JoSonja paints using Ronnie's techniques that work so well with portraits.
And Santa was so much fun. We still had some painting to finish but all the Santa's were looking handsome. Beards are great.

Kitty Kitty Class

I just had to show you some of the wonderful Kitties that our painters painted. They turned out so good! This kitty was on a gold reflective surface and he had his eye on the fish.

Helping the Triangle Area

We’re painting mirrors! One of our painters, Barb Watts who is a member of ALTA, the Assistance League of The Triangle, has brought us mirrors, a little used and needing paint, that have been donated to the ALTA thrift shop. Some of our painters have volunteered to paint a mirror which will then be for sell in the thrift shop. ALTA is a wonderful organization that helps triangle women and children in need. You can find information on ALTA at www.altriangle.org. If you would like to help us by painting a mirror, contact me at Artful Endeavors. You can paint anything you would like for adult or child. No time limit. I have a limited number of mirrors at the studio. This is a great opportunity to help those in need in our own community.

The ALTA, Antiques to Zippers, resale thrift shop also would gratefully accept any other painted items, or unpainted, that you would like to donate. They are located at 1689-A North Market Dr, just off of Old Wake Forest Rd. Have you asked yourself “Who can I paint that for?” Now you know.

This is our before photo. We'll let you see the after painting photos as the finished mirrors arrive.

Upcoming Seminars

Our seminar with Ronnie Bringle is approaching quickly. We are preparing our surfaces and looking forward to painting with Ronnie. Soon we'll have Santa in May!

Ros Stallcup's seminar sample painting have arrived! And we have a great selection this year. Please come by to see them. I have prep for our seminar participants and will have surfaces soon. We are full for this seminar and have a wait list. Let Liz know if you would like to be on the wait list.

Our seminar with Kathie George, Sept 29 & 30, is nearly full but there are a few seats left. Monday will be our batik with the Poppies and Tue we'll paint the mixed media, Crows in my garden. If you are interested in learning these exciting techniques from a wonderful artist and teacher contact Liz soon.

Liz is teaching a batik class on May 24, Sat as an introduction to Kathie's techniques. Contact Liz to register. We'll paint a fun Cat Nap, sleeping cat, from Kathie's designs.

Painting Portraits

We are in the midst of another portrait class! I enjoy teaching these classes and seeing the progress of each student. They are doing great and I can see steady improvement. Watch for more portrait classes.

The portrait below was painted by Carol Burns and is a wonderful likeness of her daughter.

Missed Getting In A Class?

We need your help! Remember to register for classes at least one week before the first class. The instructor needs time to prepare for you and make sure you have your prep instructions. And if the instructor doesn't know that you plan to attend, the class could even be canceled or she might not have a seat for you. Sometimes you just don't know in advance, but if possible please help us out by planning ahead.

Do you know about the class interest sheets on the wall? If you are interested in an upcoming class, please add your name to the interest sheet. It helps the teacher plan for class.

We love to share our painting knowledge with you and want to have great classes for you to enjoy.

Designing with Shabby Cottage Studio Papers

What beautifully designed sketch books the students created using the papers from my friend Gail Schnidt at Shabby Cottage Studio! And we sure did have fun.

Ginger Edwards Was Here!

We had a fun time with Ginger again this year. Our Girl's Night Out was a big success and we've picked up some new hobbies, needle felting and painting on dominoes. There'll soon be a shortage of dominoes locally! And we loved the ease of the needle felted roses.

We learned lots in our seminar as Ginger stretched us to grasp new techniques. Wait till you see our beautiful paintings. But it wasn't all work. We had lots of fun too.

And we're making plans for next year.
