Creative Scheduling

Coming up with a class schedule for our decorative painting classes is an art in itself. Over the years we have come up with a system that we use to get us started. A class schedule by it's very nature is always a work in progress.

After pulling out lots of idea painting books and packets, collecting students, along with pencil and paper, we begin to list everything that any student has an interest in painting. Then we vote. In this election you vote for every painting you like. The most popular paintings are scheduled first. OK, we have an idea of what and who, now I get to figure out the best way to schedule these projects taking into consideration who wants to paint them, when those painters are available, when do we need breaks for holidays, how many weeks will it take to complete a project, which class wants which projects, what are the goals of the painters...

And now we have a schedule. Until, as happens frequently, we decide to adjust it.

Simple.
